Exploring the nervous system and developing new therapies

NeuroCure is a Cluster of Excellence in the neurosciences funded since 2007 by the German federal and state governments, initially under the Excellence Initiative and, since 2019, within the Excellence Strategy framework. The new funding phase started in 2026 and will run until 2032.

NeuroCure focuses on neurological and psychiatric disorders. This interdisciplinary network seeks to understand disease mechanisms and develop new therapies. The Cluster strengthens local scientist networks and their research activities, while establishing many new research groups and technological platforms.

By promoting close cooperation between basic science and clinical research, the Cluster aims to more rapidly transfer findings from basic research to clinical application.
